No, you’re not dreaming—these electric sheep are for real and lifelike enough to fool thousands of Canadians. Even now, countless unsuspecting nature lovers are paying ten bucks a head to see what they believe to be authentic animals in their natural habitat. It won’t be until a Tuesday in midsummer that the proper authorities will discover the clockwork underbelly of Bighorn Nature Park in northern Saskatchewan. Apparently, the owners of Bighorn (who will be unavailable for comment) were selling their woolly wards to private collectors and replacing them with robotic duplicates. “Honestly,” Bernard Chabot, spokesman for the Canadian Secret Police will say, “it was fairly obvious.”
The plot will be foiled thanks to a tip from a concerned patron who will spot one of the replicas tipped against a tree awaiting repairs. “It was bleating rather off key,” the anonymous observer will report. “Plus one of its horns had broken. Inside it was papier-mache.” The robotic animals will be taken into evidence pending a hearing. After which their fate remains uncertain.
